POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Person – The Lead is a key role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a designated team within production. This position requires strong leadership skills, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. The Lead will direct team members, manage workflow, and ensure all equipment and materials are utilized effectively. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with supervisors and other team leaders to meet production goals, resolve operational issues, and maintain a productive work environment. - Oversee Production Process: Manage the production process according to the established production schedule to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks.
- Achieve Performance Goals: Ensure that efficiency and performance objectives are consistently met or exceeded, optimizing workflows and reducing downtime.
- Enforce Safety and Health Guidelines: Ensure that all safety and health guidelines, policies, and procedures are strictly followed, and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Supervise and Train Employees: Supervise, mentor, and train new employees while continuously providing support and coaching to existing staff to improve their performance and skills.
- Evaluate and Support Employee Performance: Review subordinates' performance regularly, offering constructive feedback and assistance to improve where necessary.
- Maintain Clean and Safe Work Environment: Ensure that the work environment remains clean, organized, and safe, adhering to all applicable safety regulations.
- Foster Communication: Facilitate effective communication between employees and management, ensuring that all concerns and ideas are addressed promptly.
- Investigate and Document Incidents: Investigate incidents or violations of company policies, procedures, and safety rules, documenting findings, and taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary, including disciplinary measures.
- Manage Resource Needs: Collaborate with supervisors to identify and ensure timely provision of human and material resources required for the department’s operations.
- Develop Employee Skills: Assess subordinates' skill levels and provide leadership and development opportunities to enhance the capabilities of the team and improve department performance.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks and duties as assigned to support the needs of the department and organization.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.
- Education & Experience: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. A minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Fitter/Welder, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Dependability & Responsibility: Must be dependable, reliable, and possess the maturity to safely manage a team of employees.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical welding and blueprint reading skills. Ability to supervise welders and fitter/welders, ensuring quality and safety.
- Blueprint & Manufacturing Knowledge: Proficient in reading blueprints, understanding shop manufacturing concepts, and utilizing skilled employees to meet department and production goals safely.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with subordinates, co-workers, inspectors, and maintenance personnel.
- Supervisory & Production Management: Proven ability to supervise employees and production processes. Capable of setting priorities, addressing problems, meeting deadlines, and staying within budgets and timelines.
- Planning & Organization: Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills to ensure the effective implementation of plans and strategies.
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills are required for measuring, calculations, and budgeting.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.

- Industrial warehouse and manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, and overhead cranes.
- Use of PPE such as gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear is required.
- Interaction with team members, leads, and supervisors is frequent and necessary.
