Job Summary: The Laser Operator role includes performing laser operations on various shifts in support of production requirements. The position will embody our core values of Commitment, Collaboration, Gratitude, and Growth.
Review departmental daily work schedules and organize laser cutting sequence for assigned shift.
Review ERP transactions by work order for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure work order-driven schedules are achieved based on ERP plans, and that order tracking is performed and reported in a timely manner.
Interpret technical documents such as work order specifications and schedules, CAD drawings, procedures, and processes.
Perform set up and basic nesting procedures on equipment for various metals including mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Laser cut components as specified by procedures, drawings, and work orders.
Sort and label cut parts for transfer to forming or welding departments
Inspect parts for surface defects, burrs, etches, to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and non-conformances to specifications.
· Machine set-up, start-up and shut down procedures, including Loading, unloading, sorting, counting processed parts.
Assist in scheduled preventive maintenance, slat changes and cleaning of cutting equipment and work areas in accordance with company 5S standards and equipment manufacturers specifications.
Perform machine alignment procedures and optics cleaning to ensure equipment is operating at peak performance.
Inventory management, flat stock inspection, unload sheet stock deliveries organize, restock inventory.
Ensure FAI (First Article Inspections) are performed to verify the accuracy of each work order for all new components or new revisions.
In conjunction with QA, commit to ensuring the quality of production parts post FAI units by conducting detailed inspections as necessary.
Collaborate with the Department Team Lead, Supervisor, and Quality Engineer in resolving NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) such as part damages, shortages, or tolerance issues, and the implementation of corrective actions.
Maintain laser equipment and work areas in accordance with company 5S standards and manufacturers' preventative maintenance requirements and schedules.
· Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Health and Safety practices and internal company policies, including always wearing the appropriate safety gear.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and understanding of general metal manufacturing processes.
Minimum 5 Years CNC Laser Cutting Machine operation experience.
Experience inspecting laser cut parts using appropriate measuring equipment.
Familiarity with sheet metal flat patterns is preferred.
Team player with strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
Basic computer skills and experience in an MRP environment

High school diploma combined with technical diploma and or equivalent experience in CNC laser operations.
