SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Landman to join our land team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in land acquisition, title research, lease negotiation, and regulatory compliance within the oil and gas or energy sector. This position plays a vital role in ensuring proper land access, legal documentation, and stakeholder engagement for our exploration and production activities. Should have advanced knowledge in land management software, online records research, data analytics leveraging technology such as Power BI, GIS mapping tools, and AI resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•Negotiate and acquire oil, gas, and mineral leases, surface use agreements, and rights-of-way.
•Conduct title research, verify ownership, and prepare title reports.
•Interpret legal documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts.
•Be proficient in technology impacting land department by utilizing Power BI, W Energy or similar land software, data analytics, GIS Mapping tools and AI resources where applicable
•Prepare, review, and maintain accurate electronic land files, maps and records.
•Collaborate with legal, regulatory, and operational teams to ensure project timelines and compliance.
•Serve as the point of contact for landowner and stakeholder communications.
•Assist in resolving title defects, curative actions, and ownership disputes.
•Monitor lease obligations and ensure accurate payment of rentals and royalties.
•Stay current on federal, state, and local regulations affecting land and mineral rights.
EDUCATION:
•Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Land Management, Business, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
•5–10 years of experience as a Landman in the oil & gas or renewables industry.
•Working knowledge of title curative processes and lease negotiation.
•Strong understanding of legal land documents
•Familiarity with state and federal regulatory frameworks.
•Experience with the BLM, Federal Exploratory Units, and state and federal leasing in the Rockies is not required but would be beneficial.
•Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Proficient in land management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
•AAPL certification (RL, RPL, or CPL) is preferred but not required.
SKILLS:
Must have the following skills and/or abilities:
•Software & Technology: Advanced Knowledge in computer software and technology tools including W Energy or similar land management software, data analytics tools and GIS Mapping tools.
•Title Research & Analysis: Proficient in researching title, identifying and resolving title issues, and interpreting legal land documents.
•Negotiation: Strong ability to negotiate lease terms, easements, and rights-of-way and similar agreements with landowners and stakeholders.
•Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for dealing with internal teams, landowners, and legal professionals.
•Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with BLM, state, and local land use regulations and permitting processes.
•Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in title documentation, contract management, and compliance tracking.
•Time Management: Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•Team Collaboration: Works well both independently and in a team setting across departments.
•Analytical Thinking: Capable of evaluating legal and land issues and developing practical solutions.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have a current valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform the following physical activity on a frequent to constant basis:
•Sit for long periods of time.
•Lift 10–20 lbs. of files, plans, office supplies, or similar items.
•Constantly uses fingers and hands when dialing/answering the telephone and operating a computer or other office machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer.
•Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or detect objects in and around job site over the telephone.
•Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery; or.
•Walk short distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces.
•Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Majority of work is performed in an office atmosphere located inside a building.
•May require job site visits involve performing work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site.
•May travel locally during the workday.

LOCATION:
Killam Oil Co.,, Ltd is located in Laredo, Texas; this is an in-office position based at our office in Laredo, all applicants will be required to relocate, if necessary.
