Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician III is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, conducting complex analyses, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the testing of crude oil, refined products, and petrochemicals. This role requires advanced knowledge of petroleum product testing, chemical analysis, and laboratory equipment maintenance, along with the ability to manage and mentor junior technicians. The role also involves maintaining laboratory safety standards and supporting senior management with technical recommendations and improvements.

•Conduct advanced laboratory tests and analyses on crude oil, refined petroleum, and petrochemical products, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
•Analyze and interpret test results, preparing detailed reports for management and clients.
•Ensure laboratory operations comply with all relevant industry regulations and company standards, including environmental, safety, and health regulations.
•Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
•Enter test data into the company’s internal software system and ensure all information is accurately recorded and updated.
•Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior laboratory technicians, ensuring that team members follow established procedures and best practices.
•Conduct regular inspections and audits of laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
•Lead quality assurance initiatives within the laboratory, identifying areas for improvement in testing accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
•Prepare detailed, clear, and accurate technical reports, including test results, findings, and recommendations, for internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory authorities.
•Ensure the calibration, maintenance, and proper functioning of laboratory instruments.
•Be available during non-working hours, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the Laboratory Manager and/or Operations Department.

Minimum Requirements
•Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
•Minimum of 8 years of experience in a laboratory setting or a related role within the oil and gas industry.
•In-depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality assurance practices, and regulatory compliance.
•Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve technical issues with laboratory instrumentation and procedures.
•Proven experience in managing laboratory operations, including inventory management and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
•Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
•Ability to learn new software systems and applications specific to the company's internal processes.
•Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
•Must have good vision to read and interpret instruments, test results, and data accurately.
Fitness for Duty – Physical Demands
•Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion (e.g., materials, chemicals, or equipment).
•Standing for extended periods while performing laboratory tests and equipment maintenance.
•Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to access laboratory equipment and samples.
•Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, lab coats, and respirators, as necessary.
•Working in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and laboratory hazards, while adhering to safety protocols.
•Must have good vision to read and interpret instruments, test results, and data accurately.
