Quanta Technologies currently has an opening for an entry level Laboratory technician at its site in Lacassine, LA. This position is responsible for the analysis of materials on a daily basis. It will require operation, calibration, maintenance of lab instrumentation and entering results into analytical databases. Responsibilities also include supporting the site manager with documentation of site operations and maintaining the site inventory.
· Receive and process samples. Focal point for running analyses at the Quanta Lacassine site.
· Executes all laboratory testing according to standard procedures, makes / reports observations if a deviation is observed.
· Records / Reports analysis results into databased in a timely manner, with accuracy and responsibility. Responsible for data documentation and integrity.
· Support site manager with the documentation of site operations and maintaining an up-to-date inventory for the site.
· Performs instrument calibration and maintains QC charts.
· Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance. Documents instrument information by maintaining logs and equipment record books.
· Communicates with Site Manager to resolve problems by examining, evaluating data, and selecting corrective steps.
· Supports lab operations in samples handling, sample retains, including waste solvents. Sends samples to outside labs and customers.
· Keep an inventory of lab samples on site, including all Quanta Standard Samples.
· Work with others to contribute to team and group goals.
· Complies with all relevant company policies, safety, and environmental requirements. Responsible for lab housekeeping.
· BS in Chemistry, Biology, or related science with 0-5 years of related experience. An Associate Degree in chemistry, biology or related field with similar experience will be considered.
· Basic knowledge of analytical techniques, laboratory equipment, methods and practices including particle size distribution, bulk density, and surface area.
· Some experience in operating basic and advanced laboratory equipment.
· Knowledge of QHSE Systems and laboratory best practices.
· Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and other computer software.
· Ability to work under direct supervision and under pressure.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· This is a full-time position, 40 hrs. per week.
· May work under conditions that require the use of a respirator.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly require standing for extended periods and/or walking throughout the shift.
