Position Summary
Under limited supervision, the employee is responsible for supervising the functions of an analytical test department. This includes, but is not limited to, the generation and reporting of analytical data and the prioritizing of sample load in the department. In addition to performing and overseeing these functions, the employee maintains turn-around-time and test requirements required of the clients. Within the scope of authority, the employee is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of analytical data and reports developed in the department. Laboratory Technician reports directly to Manager, Laboratory.
Job Responsibilities
Analytical Testing Production:
•Ensures turn-around-times are not exceeded and establishes sample priorities in the department.
•Performs analytical analyses on samples of varying matrices.
•Verifies accuracy and completeness of in-progress paperwork and analytical data.
•Ensures adherence to applicable ASTM Test Methods.
•Enters test data and generates analytical reports as needed.
•Provides a safe and clean working environment in the department.
•Adheres to and promotes safety policies throughout the department.
•Maintains generated waste in appropriate containers and within time guidelines.
Equipment Maintenance:
•Installs, calibrates, repairs, and maintains department equipment.
•Provides technical and trouble-shooting support for testing and equipment maintenance.
Laboratory Technician:
•Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and distributing.
•Working knowledge of gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and fluid analysis.
•Understands principles of chemical analysis and physical chemistry.
•Receives incoming samples and properly inputs customer information into laboratory database
•Assists the Lab Manager with sample preparation, handling, and traceability.
•Runs chemical tests on lab equipment as instructed by the Manager, Lab.
•Performs other lab functions as directed by the Manager, Lab.
•Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
•High School diploma/GED and 5 years of experience in a related field.
•Able to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects
•Excellent oral and written communications
•Able to problem solve. Attention to detail.
•Strong computer skills and communication skills (oral and written).
•Customer Focused-Internal and external Customers.

Additional Information
Travel: Up to 5%
Location: Sacramento, CA
Compensation: $20-$32/Hourly, depending on experience
Physical Demands: Lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs. without assistance or use of a lifting aid, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions.
