Lab Sampling Technician
A Camp based Lab Sampling Technician position is currently open with NRS at a SAGD facility in Northern Alberta.
Perform sampling tasks throughout the plant site, field and off sites to support critical and core analysis for our operations, ensuring these samples are representative of the source. The Lab Sampling Technician will carry out routine and non-routine lab sampling of waters, sweet and sour gases and oils.
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, criminal check, drivers abstract as well as a fit for work assessment. Due to the H2S gas, on site work is conducted with a partner. The ability to work as part of a team and with a partner on an ongoing basis is an absolute necessity.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
•Support lab operation, safety and environmental systems
•Support stake holders on projects, R&D and operations optimization
•Troubleshoot plant process/sampling issues
•Look for and lead efforts to improve processes and procedures as it relates to positio
•Carry out routine and non-routine lab sampling
•Communicate with Operations on plant issues impacting sampling and safety
•Ensure proper safety protocols are in place and in practice when performing duties
•Identify issues that impact safety, environment and/or production
Education / Professional Designations / Qualifications
•Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
•High school education, or equivalent
•Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
•Laboratory and field experience
•Ability to work long hours with physically demanding work, often outdoors and in the elements
Work Shift
•FIFO - Camp Based Position (flights from Edmonton & Calgary)
•Work Schedule / Hours of work: 11hrs 26min per day, 7on / 7off schedule. 80hrs/rotation.
Rates
•T4: $33-40 per hour and Independent Contractor: $41-48 per hour
•Overtime requirements: subject to manager preapproval.

•Previous Lab Work is an Asset but is not required
•Previous Sampling experience is an Asset but not required
•Familiarity within the oil or gas industry
•Excellent time management, interpersonal, documentation and organizational skills
•Proficient with standard software including LIMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. is preferred
•experience in the SAGD industry and understanding this process would be an asset

Pay: $33.00-$48.00 per hour
