Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Junior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented engineer early in their career who is eager to gain hands-on experience in civil/structural design within the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will support the design and analysis of structural components under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to a range of engineering projects in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Assist in preparing structural design calculations, sketches, and construction drawings.
•Support the development of civil and earthworks designs under supervision.
•Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and material take-offs.
•Coordinate with senior engineers and other disciplines to ensure consistent and aligned project deliverables.
•Participate in model reviews and drawing checks to ensure accuracy and quality.
•Conduct field visits, as required, to collect data and support construction activities.
•Stay informed of relevant codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
Key Skills
•Technical Aptitude: Foundational understanding of structural design principles involving steel, concrete, and foundations.
•Software Skills: Exposure to or working knowledge of structural analysis tools (e.g., STAAD, RISA, Mathcad) and familiarity with 3D modelling tools such as Navisworks or AutoCAD.
•Communication: Clear verbal and written communication for reporting and collaboration.
•Problem Solving: Willingness to learn and apply problem-solving techniques to engineering challenges.
•Team Player: Enthusiastic about working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
•Attention to Detail: Focused on producing high-quality and precise engineering work.
Education and Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
•0–3 years of experience in structural design, preferably within the EPCM, oil & gas, or industrial sector (co-op/internship experience acceptable).
•Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
•Familiarity with CSA, AISC, and ASCE codes is considered an asset.
