Purpose
Our Red Chris Mine is looking for an expereince Journeyperson Instrument Mechanic with an hourly rate of 55.14. The core purpose of this role is to:
•Ensure safe, reliable and effective operation& maintenance of process control instrumentation and Process Control Systems across site
•Facilitate preventative and corrective maintenance, addition, removal and changes to field instrumentation.
•Support Asset Management Best Practices
•Provide frontline instrumentation engineering support to maintenance, production& engineering teams.
•Work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to ensure the automation systems are aligned with site requirements. Identify& execute minor improvement projects.
•Use, program and improve the site instrumentation management system (Emerson DeltaV) and other PLC based Control Systems. Assist in authoring and review of instrumentation maintenance procedures.
Essential Duties
•Provide technical support, guidance and coaching to site personnel on best practice and technical matters related to instrumentation selection and use.
•Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance.
•Maintain the safety, security and integrity of process control systems from physical& cyber intrusion.
•Install, calibrate and maintain control and measurement instruments according to manufacturer’s specifications and site-specific regulations.
•Troubleshoot and correct related technical malfunctions with Instrumentation and Process control equipment.
•Modify configuration of Instruments, control system components and other filed devices to assure their correct and reliable operation.
•Inspect and test instruments and systems to diagnose faults using test instruments such as multimeter, simulators, communicators, software etc.
•Fit and connect new Instrumentation and process control equipment and devices.
•Run cables for Process control systems and Instrumentation
•Install Instrumentation air piping and tubing for new and existing instruments.
•Prepare and submit regular feedback on work orders resulting from maintenance activities in an effort to improve maintenance plans, records and task lists
•Maintain accurate documentation, calibration reports, drawings, etc.
•Revise and create work drawings, P and other documentation; submit them for approval to supervisor.
General Accountabilities:
•Work closely with maintenance, production& engineering teams to achieve common goals
•Identify& execute minor improvement projects
•Ensure work is in compliance with company HSE policies and procedures, quality, schedule, budget, security, industry standarts and best practices.
•Demonstrate continuous improvement to enhance operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
•Provide mentorship and training of Instrumentation and Control apprentices.
Training& Experience
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
•Minimum qualifications of either:
•Instrument Red Seal trade certificate, automation experience an asset.
•Instrumentation / Electronics / Process Engineering applied sciences undergraduate degree
•A thorough understanding of:
•Emerson DeltaV DCS, PLC’s, Industrial Communications Networks
•Best Practice installation standards
•Instrument selection and sizing for a wide range of instruments across flow, level, pressure, temperature, motion and a number of analysers (i.e. pH, dissolved gas).
•Nuclear Devise knowledge and awareness
•Best practice calibration and maintenance practices.
•Computer literate and advanced skills in the Microsoft Office programs ( SAP, All Micro Soft applications).
