What does a Journeyman Lineworker (Trouble Work) do for us?
They work independently without supervision performing new construction, troubleshooting, and repairing work on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines. They may connect and disconnect secondary and services, connect and disconnect meters, exchange, and read meters and/or perform collection activities. They are expected to demonstrate commitment to the safety of all Idaho Power Company (IPC) employees and our customers. They should be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves maintenance and repair of transformers at ground level and vault. This can require up to 150 lbs. push/pull activities, lifts up to 50 lbs., frequent kneeling, standing and crouching, as well as climbing into the vault. This job also involves climbing up to 50 ft. and occasionally up to 70-90 ft. utility poles to install/repair, while carrying 40 lbs. of safety gear. Other activities required are line pushing, wire splicing, service and meter change outs, and hot stick/shotgun use. This will include the use of extension ladders (including overhead lifting to remove and replace ladder from truck), carrying ladder and tools up to ½ mile, occasional digging and frequent above shoulder work including the use of a manual trimmer. To ensure the manufacturer's rated capacity of climbing hooks, ladders, and aerial equipment are not exceeded, applicants body weight cannot exceed 300 lbs. Job placement is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical evaluation for the Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work on call or overtime when needed and respond to emergencies outside of normal working hours. Occasional travel and overnight stays. Employees will live within the 30-mile drive distance boundaries on the appropriate operations center map with the expectation that under normal driving conditions they will respond to their home operations center in 45 minutes or less, if required to stand on call.
