Job Summary: The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have experience in framing, finishing, and general carpentry work for residential, commercial, or industrial projects. The role involves collaborating with other trades, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, and maintaining safety on the job site.
Key Responsibilities:
•Framing and Structural Work: Construct and install framework for buildings, walls, floors, and roofs, including working with wood, metal, and other materials.
•Finishing Work: Install doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, and other wood or composite materials as part of the interior and exterior finishing process.
•Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications to accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials to the required dimensions.
•Material Handling and Preparation: Select and prepare materials for construction, ensuring that all components are properly cut, assembled, and finished to specification.
•Repairs and Renovations: Repair or replace damaged wood structures, flooring, framing, and other wood-based components. Assist in renovations and remodels as needed.
•Site Safety: Follow and enforce all safety protocols, including wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and safe work environment by keeping tools and materials organized and ensuring work areas are hazard-free.
•Collaboration: Work closely with other contractors, subcontractors, and site workers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
•Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Operate hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and nail guns, and maintain tools in good working condition. Ensure all equipment is used safely and according to instructions.
•Quality Control: Ensure all carpentry work meets quality standards, building codes, and project specifications. Address and correct any issues that arise during the project.
•Job Site Organization: Ensure materials are stored properly, job sites are clean, and tools and equipment are organized and ready for use.
Requirements:
•Proven experience as a Carpenter in a construction setting, with strong skills in framing, finishing, and general carpentry.
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
•Knowledge of building codes and safety standards related to carpentry work.
•Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, hammers, and other specialized carpentry tools.
•Strong attention to detail, with a focus on producing high-quality work.
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
•Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) and working in various weather conditions.
•Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred).
•High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or relevant training program is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods.
•Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and tools.
•Comfortable working in various weather conditions and on construction sites with varying environments.
