Seattle City Light is offering the opportunity for you to play an integral role in our Engineering and Technology Operations team, and a chance to work with a utility that has been very progressive in the paradigm shift to conservation, safety and environmental stewardship in the electric power industry.
The Manager of Joint Use and Wood Pole Design (JU/WPD) Engineering will provide management and leadership direction for a workforce of approximately 24 licensed and non-licensed professional engineers, as well as technical support employees, in our North and South Service Centers. This position reports to the Director of Engineering & Technology Operations (ETO).
In this role, you will lead the JU/WPD Engineering teams and have fiscal responsibility for approximately $3.5M in Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and $56M in Capital Improvement Program budget (CIP). You will be responsible for the design and oversight (including consultant designers) for all Joint Use make ready and corrective work, and Wood Pole Design pole replacements that will serve our communication customers and pole infrastructure upgrades in Seattle and surrounding suburban areas. The engineers in these teams also provide work orders and directions to internal crews and contractors who construct Seattle City Light's systems and services. In this position, you will shape and enforce policy regarding the joint use of poles by communication companies and other end users. You will also be responsible for maintaining electrical safety pertaining to pole replacements and structural capacity limits and standards as it relates to SCL standards, national safety requirements such as NESC, and State requirements such as WAC.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Experience: Management and leadership experience in utility management, operations, engineering or related areas of responsibility, typically gained through eight or more years of progressively responsible assignments, including a minimum of five years as a manager or supervisor in a large, complex multicultural and diverse organization.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

The full salary range for this position is $120,999.60 to $187,105.68 annually ($57.95 – 89.61 hourly).
