Position Summary
The Joint Use Facilities Specialist is responsible for serving as the process owner for third party attachments to Duke Energy owned facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating, managing and administering pole attachment agreements and joint use agreements that protect Duke’s pole assets and maximize the revenues associated with such agreements. This position owns the process of completing new attachment requests, auditing existing pole attachments, collecting pole attachment revenues and interpreting the terms and conditions of various agreements. This position provides training and guidance to field employees on the use of the systems and tools that are utilized to manage third party attachments to Duke facilities.
Serves as liaison between Duke Energy and management of foreign attachers. Resolves conflicts with foreign attachers regarding Duke Energy standards and specifications, NESC and other safety related issues. Coordinates resolution of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) clearance concerns and related activities between Duke Energy and foreign utilities. Provides training and coordination for foreign attachers as necessary for the permitting and accounting process. Keeps current on Joint Use projects and information by attending state utility coordination meetings. Creates, tracks, and collects invoices for joint use attachments, engineering, and make ready. Manages the billing activities for annual pole rent. Responsible for tracking group monthly permitting activity and maintaining reports. Provides review and updates the joint use processes and QC processes as needed to assure business excellence.
Responsibilities* Process new attachment requests and manage the billing and collection of make ready expenses associated with pole attachments and joint use activities. Provide direction and guidance to field engineers to ensure accurate and prompt reimbursement of these expenses. Serve as primary subject matter expert to field engineers related to interpreting the terms and conditions and applying them to reimbursements. Provide direction and guidance to claims investigators regarding damaged poles. Develop reciprocal pricing with joint owners as neededBasic/Required Qualifications* Associate’s degree in Accounting
Desired Qualifications* Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or 1-3 years of equivalent work experience
Working Conditions Hybrid Mobility Classification* – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility
