The Jet Trader, Distillates Trading Americas will develop discretionary Jet & Kero trading opportunities in the Trans-American, Inter-Americas, and Trans-Atlantic markets. The trader will also find the best disposition for Phillips 66 refinery production and source the most inexpensive supply for Phillips 66 Aviation when necessary.
Additionally, this position will also support and/or back up other distillate traders relative to their trading responsibilities when necessary.
Responsibilities May Include
•Participating within the Global Distillate Trading Team and collaborating with the Aviation Team to evaluate and pursue trading opportunities.
•Analyze market data to identify arbitrage and optimization opportunities.
•Expressing market view/taking risk via speculative derivative instruments, particularly time spreads and basis swaps.
•Collaborating with Aviation to maximize trading margin on term contracts, SAF, and origin deals.
•Working closely with the London and Singapore traders to help develop and drive the market view and capture of Jet arbitrage movements.
•Developing multiple third-party longs and shorts of domestic/foreign Jet & Kero grades. Demonstrating a strong understanding of third-party production & consumption requirements as well as arbitrage capture economics.
•Coordinating with various Phillips 66 refinery planners & personnel to understand potential Phillips 66 refinery optionality in concert with pricing optionality on sales to various third parties to maximize netback to various domestic and foreign Jet & Kero markets.
•Establishing market views and positions to extract discretionary value from the market. Maximizing trading revenue by adding value to Phillips 66 clean product trading opportunities.
•Developing a detailed understanding of pricing methods and liquid financial instruments.
•Track and manage P&L to balance risk and profitability.
•Build strong relationships with trading and supply chain partners.
•Negotiate and execute deals, ensuring compliance and accuracy in the Deal Capture System.
•Partner with the Jet Analyst to maintain product balances, storage, and logistics for US jets.
•Collaborate with operations for seamless trade execution.
•Provide market insights and reports to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
•Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
•3 or more years of Commercial experience
•Successful completion of the P66 TAP (Trading Assessment Program) OR 1 year verified commodity trading experience
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
•1 or more years of verified commodity trading experience; experience with airline & trading company shorts strongly preferred
•Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a preference for action, accountability, and developing alternatives and solutions
•Strong negotiating skills
•Ability to lead effectively through influence
•Knowledge of domestic jet production, logistics networks, and global flows
•Prudent risk-taking capability
•Ability to obtain, absorb, and filter market information/intelligence and act on it
•Knowledge of pipeline and waterborne scheduling; pipe trading experience preferred
•Broad understanding of the transportation and logistics business, including marine logistics, pipeline logistics, and chartering
•Track record of developing trading strategies based upon fundamentals and market views, and translating said strategies into profitable trades
•Ability to adapt to quickly evolving requirements. Able to reassess market conditions and adjust market views and positions
•Good social skills; comfortable in working with external and internal entities
•Understanding of refining optimization; experience working within a refining system
•High degree of ethics, personal drive, and dedication to achieve team goals and general interest objectives

Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
