We operate an Ministry of Environment transformer and equipment dismantling processing facility, for assets and metals recovery..
To support the onsite safe & efficient functioning of GPE’s facility excluding front office
· Daily primary responsibility is janitorial work and housecleaning
· Interior of facility: sweeping and mopping, cleaning washrooms, lunchroom, and locker rooms & removing garbage
· Exterior of facility: sweeping concrete apron, cleaning bins once emptied of transformers and collecting ferrous and non-ferrous materials for recycling and winter snow removal as required
Daily secondary responsibility as time permits, is separating and sorting materials generated from transformer recycling
· Follows all Company and Ontario Health & Safety Act rules, regulations and policies, and works safely avoiding lost time injuries.
· Keeps accurate notes and records of all daily inspections prior of after performing duties.
· Works with small tools, cleaners and other such equipment as necessary.
· Operates and maintains tools and equipment in safe and careful manner
· Working outdoors and indoors all year round
Duties to include but not limited to:
· Picking up and separating materials that are swept up such as steel & brass nuts/bolts and fasteners into proper storage/disposal containers.
· Cleaning and preparing bins and trailers to be shipped out for loading at customer sites with dry absorbents, squeegee, brooms and shovels.
· Daily washroom, locker room and lunch area cleaning and garbage removal.
· Ensure that washrooms are stocked with toilet paper and soap
· Shop sweeping and cleaning throughout the day when required.
· Various other cleaning duties as required such as wiping down walls and other surfaces.
· Winter snow removal of walkways and salting when needed.
· Sorting metals from paper wrapping when not performing cleaning duties.
· Report to supervisor of any issues that may arise.
· Performs other work as assigned by the supervisors
