JOB SUMMARY:
The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the organization. Additionally, they will troubleshoot and resolve all escalated issues for hardware and software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
•Administer and support Cisco networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points) and ensure optimal network performance and security.
•Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and related services.
•Implement and monitor Microsoft security policies and tools (e.g., Defender for Endpoint, Azure Security Center, MFA, conditional access).
•Perform routine maintenance, tuning, and backups of Microsoft SQL Server databases; write and troubleshoot SQL queries as needed.
•Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
•Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
•Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
•Manage data storage and backup solutions, especially within NetApp, VMware, and Veeam environments.
•Support and maintain business-critical applications, including ERP systems.
•Generate and manage reports using Crystal Reports, Cognos, and other reporting tools.
•Maintain documentation of systems, configurations, processes, and procedures.
•Provide Tier III/other support as needed.
•Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
•Provide recommendations on company computer equipment and supplies purchases.
•Assure IT functions are followed per established standards, polices, and procedures.
•Assist IT staff in providing on-the-job training to new staff members.
•Participate in special projects as required.
•Must be able to provide support outside of regular business hours as required, including the ability to be on-call as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•Strong background in Microsoft Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365 administration & Security tools, Group Policy, Active Directory & enterprise management strategies
•Proficiency in SQL Server database management and T-SQL
•Ability to work independently, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
•Ability to adapt to changing priorities regularly
•Ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively
•Well-organized with attention to detail
•Bachelor's (4-year) degree, or equivalent applicable experience
•Proven experience with Cisco networking devices (CCNA or higher preferred)
•Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
•Proficiency in requirement-gathering techniques, process modeling, and documentation
•Familiarity with project management methodologies and software development lifecycle
•Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•General Office Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
•Environmental Conditions: The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to loud noise, temperature variations, or other environmental factors.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:
•Travel is primarily local, although minimal out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
