IT Senior Systems Engineer

This full-time position reports to the Business Systems Manager and is located at the Operations Center, 8600 NE 117th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98662.

Qualifications

Candidates should have strong expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting hybrid IT infrastructure across on-

premises and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP). Must have experience securing, maintaining, and optimizing core systems like Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange Online. Responsibilities include providing advanced support for infrastructure issues, maintaining documentation, collaborating on infrastructure projects, contributing to automation initiatives, and supporting cybersecurity efforts such as IAM, endpoint protection, and threat detection. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, or SentinelOne is essential, along with active collaboration in incident response and staying updated on emerging threats. Must demonstrate strong team focus to work collaboratively to address common goals. Successful candidates must have excellent organizational skills including ability to work effectively in self-directed environment. Industry certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Architect, VCP) are a plus. A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and demonstrated relevant experience is preferred; an Associate’s degree will be considered. Strong communication skills, initiative, and a commitment to ongoing learning in cloud technologies are key.

Employees will also receive eight hours of vacation leave and sick leave every month and twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Clark Public Utilities’ salary ranges are market based and established annually. With full competency in the role and satisfactory performance the target is midpoint within the established range.
