The P EP ENTERPRISE EXECUTION Department of the P ENTERPRISE ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: Professional)


JOB FUNCTION:

Provide CIO technology and services consulting, which includes liaison consulting/account planning, business process improvement and business case analysis to customers, to help them achieve their corporate strategic goals and objectives.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collaborate with customers to improve their business and technical processes by:
+ Acting as the customers' advocate within information technology and services. + Acting as the CIO advocate to the serviced process areas. + Understanding both the business and technical roles and responsibilities. + Assisting in the continuous improvement and documenting of both business and technical processes. + Integrating appropriate information technology, business process management capabilities, and continuous improvement tools to optimize business processes from an end-to-end basis. + Assisting process areas in planning for technology and services training.
Partner with customers to:
+ Perform initial feasibility studies and cost/benefit/risk analyses for potential new or additional CIO technology and services products or services. + Perform business analysis to align and document business requirements, business process flows and functional process design in support of larger, corporate sponsored technology and services projects.
Raise customers' awareness of technology and services by:
+ Educating them regarding existing and emerging technology and services. + Informing them of technology and services, strategies, plans and capabilities. + Assisting them to develop short and long-range business strategies to take advantage of technology and services.
Keep abreast of the latest developments within the electric utility industry and the information/operational technology industry by using all available resources, such as EEI, EPRI, Gartner.
Assist CIO technology and services operations:
+ Communicate customer needs/directions to appropriate CIO functional departments. + Assist CIO Management in the formulation and deployment of CIO strategic and tactical plans. + Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures regarding consulting activities. + Identify and document processes, data, their sources, uses and relationships.
Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



Knowledge Requirements

Thorough knowledge of the principles and theories of information/operational systems technologies normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of information/operational system development or computing, communications and networking infrastructure, business analysis/process improvement, project management, and standards associated with electric utility information systems.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of WAN/LAN/voice technology, personal computers and/or mainframe systems and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
Working knowledge of company business processes, policies and procedures as related to specific process area assignments.



Skills Requirements

Strong interpersonal skills to influence and persuade various groups or individuals and provide excellent customer service.
Demonstrated strong analysis skills. Ability to conceptualize new ideas quickly.

Ability to mentor work staff and facilitate knowledge transfer.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to handle confrontational, difficult and/or sensitive issues. Ability to handle such issues with professionalism while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.
Demonstrated in-depth analytical and administrative skills for such tasks as preparing and monitoring project requirements, resolving cost and time constraints, and conflicting priorities.



Experience Requirements

Multiple years (5-7) of analytical experience in small to large/complex technology applications, including experience in developing business plans/cases, process models and customer solutions.
Several years (3-5) exposure to information systems, LAN environments and telecommunications.
Several years (3-5) of business process and continuous improvement leveraging end-to-end process mapping and Lean Six Sigma capabilities.
A few years (1-2) of project management experience for small to large technology implementations.
Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification from the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) required.
Lean Six Sigma certification required.
Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute desired.
