About Blue Whale Materials
Blue Whale Materials is an American recycling company working to retain domestic strategic materials in the United States. We are building multiple lithium-ion battery recycling facilities across the U.S., producing a domestically sourced stream of cobalt, nickel, manganese, and lithium in the first stage of a closed-loop solution for lithium-ion battery manufacturers.
Blue Whale Materials has established its first recycling plant in Bartlesville, OK. As we grow, we are seeking talented and motivated candidates to join our team. Compensation will be based on experience.
Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for assisting in the management of inventory across all areas of the plant, including feedstock, offtake, consumables, packaging materials, and general supplies. This role also supports procurement activities, including sourcing, ordering, and coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials. The Inventory Specialist will play a key part in maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting warehouse operations, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the plant’s material flow.
Key Responsibilities
•Maintain accurate inventory records for all materials used across the plant, including raw materials, consumables, packaging, and operational supplies.
•Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including unloading/loading trucks and preparing documentation
•Operate forklifts to move pallets and battery modules within the warehouse and gravel yard
•Coordinate procurement of materials and supplies, including vendor communication, quote requests, and purchase order management.
•Use Microsoft Excel and Forms to update inventory tracking sheets and maintain record accuracy
•Support the implementation and use of WMS/ERP systems for real-time inventory updates
•Maintain clean, organized storage zones (indoor and outdoor) with clear labeling and traceability
•Identify and report non-conforming materials or discrepancies in shipments
•Participate in regular safety audits and contribute to a safe working environment
•Other duties as required
Required Qualifications
•High school diploma or equivalent required
•Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse inventory operations, logistics, or material handling
•Forklift certification or demonstrated ability to operate powered industrial trucks
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
•Ability to follow SOPs, document processes, and adapt to evolving operational needs
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
•Familiarity with WMS and/or ERP systems strongly preferred
•Understanding of universal waste or hazardous materials compliance
Physical Requirements
•Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted
•Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, or kneel for extended periods
•Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
•Comfortable working in warehouse and outdoor environments, including exposure to heat, cold, and uneven surfaces (gravel lot)
•Must be able to climb on and off forklifts or platforms as needed
•Manual dexterity required to operate handheld scanners, tablets, and tools
