Description PURPOSE OF POSITION
Develop, maintain, and evaluate supplier relationships for the purposes of sourcing and supplying raw materials, components and services for production and/or sales to meet or exceed delivery and price expectations of customers as well as cost targets of the company.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. More Specifically, The Employee Owner Will
- Obtain and provide quotes and delivery dates, in a timely manner, to Sales, Engineering, Estimating, Manufacturing, and other departments.
- Monitor and maintain inventory stock levels to ensure adequate availability to meet production requirements while meeting company overall stock level expectations and inventory turns movement.
- Regularly and consistently communicate with manager and Supply Chain team.
- Initiate improvements in Inventory Control, Logistics and Purchasing. Including but not limited to; purchase price, quality, delivery, service, stock levels, location and method of stocking, methods of send and receiving orders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with current and new suppliers. Including visiting suppliers when needed and negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Research and recommend alternate products and new suppliers (domestic and international) in pursuit of optimum value including but not limited to purchase price, quality, delivery, service, and stock levels with appropriate consideration to best stocking level, stocking location, shipping method, and mitigate risk.
- Lead the global sourcing effort in pursuit of optimum value for the company, while mitigating supply chain continuity risk.
- Working with each location plant manager, determine optimum stocking levels, stock locations, and logistics for items at each location considering inventory flow and the space available.
- Be a project team member, supplying information when making decisions to buy or manufacture a product, where to stock, and method of shipment. When changes occur, assist with suppliers when material needs change and plan decrease and increase of materials.
- Develop process and systems when needed and initiate improvements to maximize efficiency.
- Supervise, manage, and lead Supply Chain employees when needed. Including Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Logistics.
- Support the raw material schedulers at all facilities.
- Monitor the industries that we buy from to keep up on any changes, including but not limited to price.
- Perform required purchasing functions in the system including but not limited to entering Purchase Orders, attach confirmations, post packing lists, issue Manufacturing Orders, and expedite purchase orders.
- Assist Buyers when needed to follow up on late Purchase Orders and communicate to managers of affected facilities.
- Assist with physical inventories at any facility as needed. Review and participate in resolution of inventory inaccuracies.
- Obtain, archive, and disseminate material certifications as necessary.
- Determine and maintain inventory and item master data for items including but not limited to reorder points, safety stock, minimum and economic order quantities, lead times, stock units of measure, purchasing unit of measure, purchase prices, creating item numbers, item descriptions and others.
- Maintain company fleet vehicles. Including scheduling of maintenance, cleaning, and other items as needed.
- Up to 25% overnight domestic and international travel may be required.
- Perform additional assignments within Supply Chain and other areas within the company.

- Strong attention to detail and follow through.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; and 4 to 6 years related experience and/or training.
- Or High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training.
- Experience with steel commodity industry highly desired.
- Experience with domestic and global supply base a plus. Fluency in Mandarin or Spanish a plus.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, injection molding, CNC machining, etc. is a plus.
- Experience with and knowledge of bearings, housings, seals, and components a plus.
- Technical background in Engineering or Operations highly desired.
- Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
- Specific hearing abilities required for this job include the ability to hear instructions from others.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually MODERATE.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs are required in production areas and where posted.
