Job Summary
The Inventory Control Analyst supports daily warehouse operations related to inventory accuracy, material issuing, and receiving. This role is responsible for analyzing inventory trends, producing operational reports, and enhancing warehouse processes through data-driven decision-making. The position combines practical knowledge of hands-on inventory control processes with strong data analysis and reporting skills.
Essential Functions•Processes and records all material transactions-including issuing, receiving, and transfers-in a timely and accurate manner.
•Prepares materials staged for field crews based on scheduling and crew requirements.
•Reconciles the materials listings from Engineering compared to those issued for the work order.
•Supports Accounting regarding work order closings and materials issues.
•Operates forklifts and material handling equipment to unload and move incoming shipments.
•Serves as a key resource for broadband inventory support and guidance to engineering staff, outside plant personnel, construction contractors, and warehouse team.
•Conducts cycle counts and physical inventory as scheduled.
•Generates and reviews reports for inventory discrepancies and variances. Reports on findings to the Manager.
•Assists the Manager and Lead Inventory Control Specialist with determining appropriate stock levels and reorder thresholds.
•Supports compliance with safety regulations and operational requirements.
•Maintains and reports gas and diesel fuel level records, including processing fuel purchase requisitions.
•Works with other BrightRidge staff to ensure an organized and accurate transformer inventory.
•Responsible for assisting the Manager with processing warranty claims on materials and tracking them through complete resolution.
•Shares responsibility for maintaining the tool room inventory and performs an end-of-day review of the transactions.
•Collaborates with Engineering, Construction, and Service departments regarding scheduling and ensuring inventory is available.
•Supports the Manager in assessing inventory trends, forecasting demand, and identifying slow or fast-moving items.
•Proactively identify technology-driven process improvements in collaboration with the Manager.
•Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the NISC program to use as duties require.
•Ability to maintain reliable, predictable and reasonable attendance.
Additional Responsibilities
•Monitors work orders involving spools of electrical conductor or fiber optic cable, which are issued in quantities greater than needed, to ensure that unused material is returned and accurately credited back to warehouse inventory.
•Provides backup support to the Lead Inventory Control Specialist by entering inventory requisitions.
•Assists the Lead Inventory Control Specialist with receiving duties and inventory reconciliations to purchase orders and system records; follows up with Purchasing on discrepancies.
•Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
•Must maintain a valid driver's license.
•Occasionally assists custodian staff during critical needs; this duty is infrequent.
•Work schedules may vary based on crew needs and coverage requirements due to employee absences.
•Must be available for after-hours work, including working a fair share of all necessary overtime and a weekly on-call rotation.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
•Must have knowledge of electrical and broadband materials, supplies, and equipment.
•Must know safety rules regarding inventory and a warehouse environment.
•Must be able to operate hand trucks, forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, platform trucks, and bar code scanning systems.
•Must be able to lift material safely.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Requirements
Requires constant standing, walking, handling, vision and depth perception. Requires frequent reaching, arm/hand, leg/foot and simple grasp for machine control operation. Requires occasional lifting of up to 130 lbs., with proper lifting techniques.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an open warehouse without temperature controls and occasionally outdoors in inclement weather. Exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals may be required.
Qualifications•An Associate's degree is required; preference given to degrees in business, supply chain management, logistics, inventory control, or a related field.
•Any combination of previous experience in inventory control, purchasing, supply chain-related duties, or warehousing may be accepted in lieu of an Associate's degree.
•Experience in a utility, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred.
•Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and bar-coding systems preferred.
•Experience in Microsoft Excel is required.
