The individual will oversee the assessment of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and various financial procedures for US Utilities. This role involves developing internal controls for high-risk financial processes and overseeing the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) compliance program. Additional responsibilities include establishing control frameworks for new transactions and IT applications (such as acquisitions, business combinations, divestitures, application deployment), supporting annual SOx and project scoping, developing and executing training programs, and coordinating and communicating results of annual Control Self-Assessment to management. This role will also identify and coordinate process improvement initiatives and manage other assigned ad hoc projects.
•Conduct annual Sarbanes-Oxley scoping exercise for in-scope entities, AES Indiana and AES Ohio
•Supervise the updating of control and process documentation performed by the Internal Controls team
•Conduct controls training and communication meetings with Control Owners
•Coordinate annual testing requirements for controls self assessment with both internal and external resources
•Identify and communicate control deficiencies to relevant departments and develop corrective action plans
•Track and test completion of corrective action plans for control deficiencies identified
•Collaborate across functions to standardize procedures, enhance process improvements, and drive automation efforts, in order to strengthen internal controls
•Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
•Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA are often preferred.
•Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance.
