Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 120,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.
This is a twelve (12) week paid internship program beginning May 2026. You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an expected graduation date in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
Summary:
Energy Transfer is seeking an intern to support our Government Affairs, Political Action, and Project Development teams. This internship offers hands-on experience in policy research, legislative and regulatory monitoring, and stakeholder engagement. Ideal candidates are students pursuing studies in Government, Political Science, Pre-Law, or Law who are eager to learn about the intersection of public policy and the energy industry.

Description:
As an intern with Energy Transfer, you will gain hands-on experience supporting our Government Affairs and Political Action initiatives, as well as contributing to project development efforts. This role will provide exposure to policy research, stakeholder engagement, and the legislative/regulatory process, while also developing skills in communication, analysis, and project coordination.
- Assist with monitoring legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the energy industry.
- Support the team with research, analysis, and preparation of briefing materials.
- Help coordinate activities related to political action initiatives and project development.
- Participate in meetings and strategy sessions with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned.
- The intern applicant should be enrolled in college, preferably as a candidate of one of the following degrees:
- Students pursuing studies in Government, Political Science, Pre-Law, or Law.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Interest in public policy, government relations, and the energy sector.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational skills and proficiency in Excel
- Experience in/knowledge of the energy industry is preferable, but not required
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with occasionally tight deadlines
