We are offering a 4-month (January to April) Geology internship based in Labrador City, Labrador at our Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) operations. Relocation to Labrador City is required for this role.Accommodation and relocation assistance to Labrador City and return upon end of internship will be provided.
This internship will allow you to have direct exposure to mine geology work on an active mine site. You will support different activities relating to IOC’s Geologist.

Working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Geology Team, you will:
- Assist with blast hole sampling and mapping. inputting data into geological software, delivery of sampling to internal laboratory.
- Assist with geological and geotechnical core logging and sampling to collect pertinent data and ensure timely processing of samples.
- Work to high standards for quality assurance, quality control and data validation of for all geological data.
- Assist with field work for diamond drill program including, use of high precision GPS within mine site and exploration sites- At least one year completed* of Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering
- Safety mindset

- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Valid driving license

IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles. This internship is based in Labrador City.
