The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school and college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
This position is responsible for developing processed for consistent and effective data analysis and reporting, both for immediate and long-term needs of the department.
- Researches, analyzes, and creates current and future business process designs, capability maps, workflows, and data flows to identify areas for improvement.
- Applies techniques to value or quantify the business process improvement opportunities and related risks for prioritization and post-change return on investment analysis.
- Participates in the roll out of new processes or process improvements providing presentations, training, workshop coordination or other such efforts.
- Maintains process documentation and inventory.
- Incorporates industry standards and best practices into processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Must be able to report to assigned worksite Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm.
Excellent problem solving and thought leadership skills; able to quickly understand the big picture, but also to “dive deep” when appropriate.
Operates successfully in highly ambiguous situations where success is not known to be readily achievable.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with customers, business leaders, and management.
High School Applicant - Must be a Junior or Senior in high school or technical school (at least 16 years old).
College Applicant - Must be a college student; currently enrolled in a related discipline.
Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
