Job Description
Reporting to the GLE Information Technology and Security Manager (ITSM) and working closely with the other personnel in IT and all end users.
Primary Focus: This role will provide technical support to users in an efficient and accurate manner, while supporting more advanced systems administration tasks. Will be considered as the front lines of the IT department to solve basic technical problems and provide support for all assigned areas.
Secondary Focus: This role provides new client and server builds, system configurations, and reliable operation of all GLE computer systems. Assists with maintaining the security and compliance posture, and relevant supporting documentation of the information technology system.
NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent’s ability to hold and maintain an NRC Q-clearance, as well as their ongoing ability to maintain nuclear site access.
Roles And Responsibilities
•Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
•Images/deploys/maintains PC hardware, software (OS & Applications), printers and peripherals.
•Assists in training users on various PC based software systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, engineering application, remote access, etc.).
•Install and upgrade components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
•Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
•Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
•Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
•Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
•Ensure the implementation of security measures, in accordance with facility cybersecurity plans, procedures and other controlling documents.
•Maintain documentation in accordance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Committee on National Security System (CNSS) and internal business guidance and assist in development.
•Maintain configurations and baseline standards.
•Assist with the activities in accordance with the site PCSP and procedures.
Environment Health And Safety (EHS)
•Maintain compliance with Test Loop radiological and safety requirements.
•Immediately report any safety or environmental incidents, unsafe acts and conditions or near misses to the Company’s management.
•Adhere to the Company’s EHS environmental policies, procedures and regulatory requirements with respect to all work being undertaken to ensure the health and safety of self and others in the workplace.
•Minimize or eliminate the environmental impacts of all tasks.
•Complete all training courses as required, including laser safety training courses to ensure laser room safety is observed and maintained at all times.
•Perform safety and risk assessment duties related to the role as assigned by management.
•Perform technical reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, industrial, and Company safety standards.
Qualifications, Education, And Experience
•Active Security Clearance (NRC/DOE “Q” or Top Secret/SCI)
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma with at least four years of equivalent relevant experience)
•At least two years of experience with administration, operation, and documentation of an accredited classified information system
•Knowledge and experience with DOE / Department of Defense / CNSS requirements for classified information systems
•Industry certifications in information security (such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, etc.)
•Ability to learn complex systems and business processes and define requirements for solutions
•Detailed working knowledge of NIST Standards (e.g. 800-53, 800-82) and CNSSI 1253
•Experience working with United States Government Regulatory Agencies
•Experience with control systems (e.g. PLCs, HMIs)
