Intermediate Accountant
Public Mining Company - Vancouver, BC
A publicly listed mining company located in downtown Vancouver seeks a motivated Intermediate Accountant with a focus on accounts payable functions. The candidate should be a quick learner and self-starter with good problem-solving skills who can communicate effectively with the company’s staff, vendors and service providers in order to facilitate the accounts payable process in a timely and efficient manner and all within internal control processes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
•Collect invoices, obtain necessary approvals, code and post invoices into accounting system;
•Process and reconcile credit card statements, gather receipts and supporting documents for approval, record in accounting system and process credit card payments;
•Process bank transactions and intercompany transfers;
•Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledgers;
•Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly working papers including bank reconciliations, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, accrued liabilities and share management etc;
•Assist in annual budgeting process and prepare monthly budget variance reports;
•Coordinates and liaise with internal and external auditors on interim reviews and year-end audit, including handling requests and queries; and
•Ad hoc projects as required.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of two years’ experience in full cycle accounting including accounts payable, bank reconciliation and general ledger maintenance;
•Experience in month end or quarter end closing and preparing monthly / quarterly working papers;
•Experience in payroll is preferred;· Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to details;
•Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
•Available to work extended hours if required to make filing deadlines;
•A team player who can work independently with minimum supervision; and
•Good knowledge of MS Office products.
