We have an open position for an experienced full-time, energetic and independent Instrumentation Technician to join our field services team. The ideal candidate is personable, a team player, and passionate about providing quality client service. The right candidate will be able to travel around the province throughout the week visiting client facilities 1-3 weeks a month.
Our Field Service Technicians provide world-class services in the areas of regulatory performance testing and maintenance of air monitoring systems. They must be able to represent themselves and the company as trusted advisors to our valued clients.
· Prepare tools, parts, and equipment necessary for the successful completion of assigned jobs.
· Work on Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) and PLC’s (Allen Bradley, Modicon) supporting hardware issues and installing new hardware (I/O cards, processors, network communication equipment).
· Perform scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance on CEM systems including replacement of sampling system components, pneumatics components, filters and electronic transmitters.
· Perform gas analyzer calibrations, maintenance, and adjustments in the field and in the shop.
· Troubleshoot CEMS issues and perform on-site repairs as required.
· Install and commission new CEMS equipment including sampling systems, analyzer packages and control system tie ins.· Perform basic data input and analysis, data acquisition and control system program development and debugging.
· Respond to emergency field maintenance requests where requested.
· Complete field reports and documentation as part of scope of completed field work.
· Provide internal support for project documentation (Technical specifications, design documents, DAS/PLC program testing and QC, technical reviews of regulatory documents such as CEMS monitoring plans, certification reports.
· Participate in Quality Control (QC) and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities.
· Conduct field assessments of future installations of new analyzer systems and data acquisition systems, detailing installation requirements and reviewing technical specifications to ensure the installation goes according to plan.
· Assist with new CEMS construction activities such as fabrication, wiring, tubing, quality control testing and quality documentation.
· Provide client phone/email/training support on technical matters and CEMS service.
· Complete job sheets, time sheets, and expense reports as required.
· Clean/maintain the DAS shop, instrument shop and service bay.
· Complete service inventory counts; ensure there is sufficient service parts inventory.
· Such other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned from time to time by the Employer.
For this position, we would ideally like to see:
· Instrumentation or Automation background including Technical diploma, trade or BSc.
· Experience with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems, process gas analyzers, control systems such as Allen Bradley and Modicon PLC’s is an asset
· At least 3 years experience working in an instrumentation/automation field service role
· Education or experience in instrumentation, preferably environmental monitoring
· A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record
· Physically fit (able to lift up to 50 lbs)
· Unafraid of heights (able to climb a ladder up to 150 feet)
· Willingness to travel 1- 3 weeks each month
· Basic understanding and knowledge of how to use a personal computer, including MS Office Suite, email
