- Bachelor’s degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Valid teacher certificate required
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
- Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Well-versed in thoughtful technology instruction
- Ability to develop and deliver professional learning to adult learners
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Three or more years of experience in a teacher leadership role/coaching role
- Five or more years of teaching experience preferred
- Experience in an instructional coaching or related role preferred
Learning Facilitator: As a learning facilitator, an Instructional Coach helps coordinate and facilitate learning experiences for school staff.
- Well-versed and able to provide professional learning and support for all staff to implement the district’s guaranteed-viable curriculum, best instructional practices, high-quality assessment strategies, and a student-centered learning environment.
- Visible and available at your primary campus on a regular basis for just-in-time support and learning for staff and students.
- Coordinate projects with the Teaching & Learning department, including staff development and programs throughout the year and during the summer for your primary campus and across the district.
- Catalyst for Change: An Instructional Coach models and facilitates continuous improvement on the classroom, school and district levels.
- Serve as the bridge for effective communication and planning for change between your primary campus and Teaching & Learning Department as well as any other stakeholders.
- Implement the use of effective instructional strategies, research-based effective practices, and effective use of instructional technology.
- Support the Teaching & Learning department by leading the vetting and procuring process as well as the design, development, and analysis of curriculum tools, apps, instructional resources and other online curricula that integrates seamlessly on student devices.
Data Coach: Instructional Coaches are the liaisons between research and practice, helping teachers learn to improve their practices in a reflective supportive setting.
- Coordinate and facilitate assessment practices with the Teaching & Learning department to assist teachers to ensure valid, timely, and informative data collection.
- Demonstrate and facilitate protocols, systems and routines for collecting and using student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions.
Learner: In the role of Learner, the Instructional Coach models continuous learning.
- Connect with other educators and professionals to improve collaboration both within the district and globally.
- Actively pursue and share professional growth and development to keep abreast of current educational trends and research as related to practices including instructional technology.
Mentor: As a Mentor, the Instructional Coach builds relationships and serves as a critical friend supporting all teachers.
- Utilize strong consulting and collaboration skills to serve as a mentor for teachers as learners.
- Anticipate and prepare for the needs of campus staff.
- Engages and encourages staff to improve practice through use of the Full Coaching Cycle
- Model, coach, and implement best instructional practices for all teachers
School Leader: An Instructional Coach as a school leader assists and serves on leadership teams within the school for the district.
- Positively collaborates with district, school, and grade-level/department teams in a variety of capacities.
- Helps lead the implementation of the District and Campus Improvement Plans and the strategies contained therein including technology, curriculum and pedagogical practices.
Curriculum Specialist: The Instructional Coach supports teachers by helping with the "what" of teaching.
- Coordinate with the Teaching & Learning Department to facilitate the implementation of state/district curriculum initiatives including new TEKS in core areas and technology applications. This will include leading grade level core meetings in developing curricular documents and assessments.
- Create, implement, and support EISD curriculum that utilizes multimedia and multimodal resources to support teachers foster and improve an accessible learning environment.
Resource Provider: As a Resource Provider, the Instructional Coach assists teachers with approved materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction.
- Act as an accessible district and campus resource who is skillful and reliable in providing faculty with research-based practices, materials and insights.
- Design, create and publish multimedia and online content including learning modules, tools, videos, print materials and courses for a wide-variety of audiences.
Classroom Supporter: As a Classroom Supporter, an Education Partner is a co-planner, a co-teacher, and a feedback provider.
- Co-teach and model instruction including best practices in the use of technology, use of flexible spaces, SEL & UDL and disciplinary literacy strategies, etc.
- Support teachers to plan, implement and receive feedback to improve instruction for all student groups.
Instructional Specialist: The Instructional Coach supports teachers by helping with the "how" of teaching.
- Consistently model, observe and provide feedback concerning the best practices in a classroom, with considerations for content area distinctions.
- Partner with the Teaching & Learning Department to serve as an expert to support implementation of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain Confidentiality.
- May include willingness to work hours in addition to the regular work day, either in person or online.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Work inside; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
