Position Summary
Established company in the waste and recycling industry is seeking a multi-skilled laborer for our growing chute installation/service division. Installation of waste, recycle, and linen chutes will be performed at active construction sites. Our goal is to train and promote you to a lead installer or foreman. During project transitions, you will assist our service dept. with resolving and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and/or hydraulic issues on waste and recycling equipment.
We are looking for someone who is a hard worker, multitasker, with a go getter mentality. Productivity is critical and troubleshooting skills are required. Candidates much be able to work in a very busy fast paced environment. This role is progressive and is perfect for someone who has a desire to learn and grow.
Summary of Duties
•Perform site surveys and record pertinent information and/or take measurements on construction sites for linen/waste chute installations
•Ability to comprehend architectural and structural drawings
•Able to evaluate construction site conditions in relation to project scope
•Consult with construction managers on site to ensure smooth and proper site preparation for chute installs
•Basic knowledge and understanding of construction, and OSHA requirements
•Perform repairs on chutes & refuse/recycling equipment as needed
•Diagnose cause of mechanical or electrical malfunctions and utilize schematics, manuals and expertise to troubleshoot issues
•Record paperwork associated with repairing equipment, part usage, chute installations, and general accounting
•Capacity to perform general field repairs
•Maintain inventory tracking of materials and equipment of most utilized parts in service truck
•This is a working position requiring the foreman to work as an installer as well as manage an installation crew.
Job Specifications
•Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications for material ordering and construction.
•Basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems
•Ability to work in an environment that could consist of but not limited to oil, dirt, dust, odor and high noise
•PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical and electrical aptitude
•Skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of compactors, balers, containers and/or chute systems
•Capable of Independent work on installs (direct supervision not necessary, but instructions required from foreman)
•Knowledge of safety procedures while operating, repairing compactors, balers, containers or servicing chute systems
•Excellent oral and written communications skills in English. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
•Experience with small hand tools. Drills/saws/measuring tape/grinders
•A valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record
•Ability to operate a forklift
•Capable of working overtime
•Traveling out of area is required (out of area installs are typically 5-6 days excluding travel time)
•Ability to drive to local and out of area sites (Sacramento/Los Angeles)
•Must be able to work in all temperatures (Hot/Cold/Rain)
•Able to drive over size company truck loaded with company equipment/tools
Physical Demands
•Lifting to 125 lbs. on occasion, lifting 50-75 lbs. regularly, daily: bending, squatting, lifting, and maneuvering into tight spaces. Consistent walking and use of stairs.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
