Overview Of Responsibilities

You will be responsible for inspecting complex, multi-disciplined public works and water construction projects. This will include integrating plans, details and specifications to ensure construction and contract compliance.

Liaison and Coordination. Our Inspectors act as a liaison not only between departments within the district, but between city officials, specialty inspectors, consultants and outside contractors. The projects you work on will include capital improvement projects, private development, and outside agency construction projects. The work you will typically see involves pipeline projects, reservoirs, pump stations, treatment plants, tanks, vertical construction and modification projects.

Documentation and Conflict Resolution. The level of success on a project is highly dependent on our Inspectors' ability to develop and maintain project documentation including change orders, daily status reports, project schedules, plans, specifications and submittals. When issues arise, our Inspectors resolve conflicts with contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders using sound judgment and effective communication. As the projects progress, our Inspectors verify completed work, certificates and compliance.

Quality Assurance. It will be up to you as an Inspector to review materials, interpret survey data to verify alignment, and conduct final inspections and warranty assessments. Our inspectors coordinate necessary shutdowns, whether scheduled or emergency, prepare pipeline activation flushing and sampling plans to ensure water quality standards are met.
