The Yard Technician is responsible for maintaining and preparing industrial generators and related equipment for delivery, service, or resale. This role involves power washing, painting, and cleaning equipment, operating forklifts (including large-capacity forklifts) and other yard equipment, performing basic mechanical tasks, assisting with crane operations, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

The Yard Technician role provides hands-on exposure to generator systems and equipment, giving motivated individuals the chance to build valuable skills and advance into technical, service, or operations roles within a stable and expanding company.
- Operate forklifts (including large-capacity forklifts) and other yard equipment to move and position heavy industrial generators and related assets.
- Assist with crane operations, including very large cranes used to load and unload generators onto semi-trucks.
- Power wash, paint, and clean generators and equipment prior to delivery or resale.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks such as checking fluid levels, changing filters, and assisting technicians with minor repairs or adjustments.
- Inspect yard equipment, ensuring safety standards and maintenance schedules are followed.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and containers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Support the service team with staging equipment, parts, and tools as required.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and equipment handling procedures.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment (certification preferred, but training available).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn generator systems.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle physically demanding tasks.- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team setting.
- Previous experience in a yard, construction, equipment rental, or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, generators, or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Painting and finishing experience on industrial or commercial equipment.
- OSHA safety training or related certifications.
- $23.00 – $28.00 per hour, based on experience.
