As an Industrial Safety Technician (IST), you will ensure that the requirements of the state and federal industrial safety regulations, Willow Creek Industrial Safety Program, and UEC-Wyoming Corp. safety policies are met. This includes employee safety training, safety inspections, maintaining safety equipment and supplies, and recommending corrective actions to enhance safety in the workplace. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Conduct inspections of the work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with UEC, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
· Calibration of all confined space safety monitoring equipment
· Conduct inspections and maintenance of all safety/first aid stations
· Assist in fit testing personnel for respiratory equipment
· Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors
· Conduct first aid training; maintain all First Aid Equipment and supplies at the mine site.
· Assist the Manager Site SHE with Incident and Accident Investigations and reports.
· Commitment to safety in all aspects of work.
· This is a salaried, exempt position that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, with occasional indoor office duties, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices in all work-related activities.
· Must be able to recognize hazardous conditions, follow company safety policies and practices, and engage in a strong safety culture.
· Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
· The successful candidate will be required to submit to mandatory drug and alcohol testing prior to employment.
· Needs to be self-motivated, dependable, and able to meet strict deadlines in accordance with regulatory-driven sampling schedules.
· Must be able to train personnel and record monitoring results in written form and/or on a computer.
· Must be able to assess various types of data for technical adequacy and trends that require additional actions to be considered by the ongoing operation to ensure compliance and/or employee personal protection.
· Must be able to fully utilize the required PPE, including a full-face respirator.
· A minimum of a High School diploma or GED. A two (2) or four (4) year college degree in an industrial safety-related field is desired but not required.
· Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in an environmental-related position in mining or a similar industry.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
