POSITION SUMMARY

The Illinois Refining Division is seeking a full-time Industrial Hygienist. Located in Robinson, IL, this position will report to the Safety Manager and be responsible for managing multiple industrial hygiene related programs (e.g. exposure control programs, exposure assessments methods, emergency response, etc.), oversight support of specific operating units, and completion of field industrial hygiene work.

Position will work directly with HES&S peers, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. This position provides the opportunity to interact with all levels of management and employees in areas of regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, and Refinery Air Monitoring Team. Estimated travel for the position is up to 10%.

Position is approved for relocation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES* Conduct exposure assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality investigations, response to employee concerns, air monitoring during emergency responses, and recommend corrective action to minimize exposure risk to employees and contractors during routine operations, turnarounds, and capital projects.
Collect, review, document, and summarize exposure assessment and monitoring data to comply with legal and corporate requirements utilizing the industrial hygiene databases. Identify potential health stressors, and determine the need for, and effectiveness of, exposure control methods.
Prepare and maintain standards, procedures, and training for industrial hygiene related topics to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Maintain and update exposure based medical surveillance programs.
Manage and maintain industrial hygiene equipment and associated software.
Conduct IH audits following the MPC collaborative audit process.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert in the areas of chemical, physical, and biological agent exposure control, emergency response air monitoring techniques, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment.
Responsible for management of programs such as Asbestos, Benzene, Ergonomics, Hydrogen Sulfide, Respiratory Protection, Radiological, etc.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum (Required) Qualifications* High school diploma or GED required with 5 years of relevant experience -OR-

Bachelor’s degree in industrial Hygiene, safety, engineering, or related science, with 2 years of related experience
Valid driver’s license required
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications* Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in industrial hygiene

Accreditation as a Certified Industrial Hygienist

Skills* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote) is preferred.

Strong coordination skills, demonstrated through successful interdisciplinary project management (crafts, operations, environmental, inspection, engineering)
Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both frontline workers and leadership
Experience and/or comfort with presenting training material in both hands on and classroom settings.
Self-motivated, good time management, and mechanically inclined
Possess a willingness to travel, make timely decisions, and be capable of expanding beyond the stated responsibilities
Be able to think strategically and work towards continual improvement of internal processes
