Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Industrial Hygiene Professional position located in Carlsbad, NM. U.S. citizenship is required Responsibilities The successful candidate will support the site Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program, which strives to reduce and control chemical, biological, physical, and environmental hazards in the workplace. This will be an entry-level shift coverage position with additional duties as assigned by their individual shift lead. Ensure compliance with all applicable procedures, policies, contractual/operational requirements, safety guidelines, MSHA, OSHA, DOE Orders, and local, state, and federal regulations. Perform tasks according to detailed instructions and established procedures. Assist in data collection and workplace observation in support of IH programs, policies, and procedures used to measure and reduce employee exposure. Perform routine calculations according to specific guidelines and formulas. Assist in generating reports, spreadsheets, and charts. Actively participate in safety work groups. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work in above-ground and underground (mine) environments. Potential exposure to Work in the above-ground and underground (mine) environment. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed. Must be ambulatory, wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as, but not limited to, chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.). Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as, but not limited to, car, truck, golf cart, gator, heavy equipment). Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.). Must be able to complete Radiological Worker II training. Position will be a shift-covering representative days or nights following a 5-shift week, alternating with a 3-shift week in a two-week pay period. Must be able to obtain Certified Industrial Hygienist certification once experience requirements are met. Minimum Requirements* Bachelors degree in Safety and Health or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program is required.
Preferred Requirements* Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene from an ABET-accredited program.
