Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Professional opportunity to support the Savannah River Site (SRS).
The Industrial Hygiene (IH) Professional will provide IH support to the project through all phases of construction and demolition. The IH Professional will provide conventional practices of industrial hygiene (the science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace that may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers) in a construction environment.
- Demonstrate a sound base of technical knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations, standards, concepts, practices, principles, and techniques programs or projects.
- Experience conducting occupational sampling and monitoring in the industrial and field settings to include development of sampling plans.
- Perform occupational sampling and monitoring in a construction environment (e.g. silica, heat stress, noise)
- Ability to identify and quantify potential hazards/exposures.
- Experience determining applicable exposure limits and implementing controls that protect the workforce.
- Experience in hazard analysis processes and related documentation.
- Experience in reviewing and implementing 10 CFR 851, Worker Safety and Health Program.
- Experience with implementation of ACGIH standard.
- Personnel must ensure inclusion of all necessary health and safety program needs related to program materials, hazardous materials, occupational injury/illnesses, and OSHA regulations.
- Technical responsibility for implementation of an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program within demolition or construction project.
- Perform conventional and increasingly complex practices of IH by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental factors or stresses in the workplace.
- Cooperate with client’s industrial hygienists performing related phases of the program.
- Perform assessments of work exposures; designs and conducts exposure monitoring strategies.
- Apply technical knowledge toward the reduction of costs and improvement of the processes where possible while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Prepare technical reports and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree with specialized technical training.
- Minimum five (5) years in supporting commercial or federal science, nuclear engineering or another task related to relevant programs or projects.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Able to be qualified to use respiratory protective equipment.
- Prior industrial hygiene experience at a DOE site
- Minimum of 5 years in a management role
- CIH, OHST, CHST, CHMM, or CSP
- Experienced with Bayesian Decision Analysis
