Independent Petroleum Landman – Title Curative (Genealogy & Heirship Emphasis)

Job Description:

Texhoma Land Consultants is actively seeking motivated and detail-oriented Petroleum Landmen for title curative and heirship positions in West Virginia. Ideal candidates will be high performers with strong research and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail.

Candidates should possess a strong analytical mindset and the ability to draw conclusions from incomplete data gathered from various sources. A solid background in genealogical research, curing title defects, and understanding complex title and heirship issues is preferred. Fluency in oil and gas documentation is also essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities:

· Review and cure title defects identified in Title Opinions or Ownership Reports

· Conduct online and in-person heirship and mineral ownership research.

· Effectively and efficiently utilize a variety of available sources, including but not limited to Ancestry.com, courthouse records, and various additional online and internal resources to fully and properly identify previously unidentified heirs as needed.

· Review, draft, update, or revise various oil & gas-related documents, reports, and curative instruments as needed.

· Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of client deliverables.

Qualifications:

· Minimum 2 years of title curative experience in West Virginia (Preferred)

· Strong genealogical and heirship research background (WV experience preferred)

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

· Ability to self-start, manage deadlines, and adapt to project demands

· AAPL Membership Preferred

· This is a contract position - having an established business, LLC, S Corp, C Corp, etc., is required for this role.
