Position Summary:We are seeking a skilled and experienced In-House Attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will provide legal counsel to support our business operations, focusing on business and employment law. This role will be crucial in helping the company stay compliant with current regulations, reduce legal risks, and ensure best practices are followed in all legal matters. The ideal candidate should have expertise in employment law, corporate governance, and business transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
•Advise the company on legal matters related to business operations, employment law, contracts, and corporate governance.
•Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to minimize risk and protect the company’s interests.
•Ensure compliance with employment laws, including wage and hour laws, workplace safety, discrimination, and harassment regulations.
•Manage litigation, including working with stakeholders, HR Department and helping mitigate potential legal issues.
•Provide legal advice regarding corporate policies and procedures, ensuring that internal operations align with legal requirements.
•Review and assist with regulatory filings, corporate governance, and other compliance matters to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
•Advise the human resources department on employee relations issues, employee handbooks, performance management, terminations, and other HR-related legal issues.
•Conduct legal research to stay current on changes in business, labor, and employment laws and make recommendations to leadership.
•Train employees and managers on legal topics, risk management, and compliance issues.
•Work with management to develop strategies for reducing legal risks across business functions.
•Oversee company’s intellectual property portfolio and ensure protection of trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
•Provide advice on risk management strategies, including workplace safety and risk-related compliance.
Qualifications:
•Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
•Active bar membership in the state of Texas.
•5+ years of experience in business law, employment law, and corporate governance.
•Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
•Proven experience with contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
•Ability to provide clear and practical legal advice to non-legal professionals.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
•Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
•Strong business acumen and ability to understand complex legal and business issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in a corporate legal department or in-house setting.
•Familiarity with intellectual property laws.
•Experience managing litigation and working with outside counsel if necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
· Salary $160,000 - $190,000(DOE)
Location:
•On Site - Midland Texas – Candidate must live in Midland/Odessa area or willing to relocate before starting work.
•Occasional travel may be required for company meetings, conferences, or court appearances.
