About This Job

The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs complex to difficult engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies advanced engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments.

Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity
Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling
Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines

Basic Job Requirements

Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Professional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)
Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
Managing and leading a large project
Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out
Practical field experience
Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Interface Management Excellence:

Lead the development of interface management strategy and plan, identifying, documenting, and closing out interfaces in a structured manner.
Define the approach to identifying, documenting, and closing out interfaces, ensuring an organized process.
Maintain the interface system of record and interface tables/matrices with the most current, accurate information regarding status of interface agreements and interface points.
Schedule and lead regular meetings and teleconferences to achieve alignment or enhance information sharing for each respective scope of interfaces.
The Interface Coordinator must work with the Fluor project team, Client, and external stakeholders to ensure that both internal and external interfaces are identified, addressed and appropriate procedures are integrated into the overall interface management plan.
Establish and maintain clear communication channels and protocols for each respective scope interface.
Schedule and lead regular meetings and teleconferences to achieve alignment and enhance information sharing.
Proactively initiate actions to expedite interfacing technical contacts and external stakeholders
Collaborate with stakeholders to define interface requirements and expectations.
Present and explain interface management work processes to relevant internal and external stakeholders, including Fluor project teams, clients, licensors, EPC contractors, third parties, and government agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

o Additional technical qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of the following:

Piping components, commercial availability and cost of materials

Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), other discipline drawings and vendor equipment documentation
Work processes and technical specifications of stress and/or material engineering operations
Selecting piping materials required, evaluating service life and suitability
Preparing piping purchase descriptions for valves, pipe, fittings, and flanges, and other special piping components
Calculating pipe wall thickness (pressure & vacuum), and making preliminary selections
Reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) for proper valving and conformance to specification
Developing pressure test P&IDs
Identifying and selecting special piping components
Checking assigned line numbers, and line class specifications against master P&ID and pipe line list
Piping engineering software (Red Bag, MatMan, Auto Pipe, CAESER II, etc.)
Stress/strain theories as applied strength of materials
Requirements outlined in the piping flexibility, support element, expansion joint and shock arrestor specifications
Completing complex stress analysis and calculations
Preparing line stress calculations (including thermal, dead weight, loop, etc.) with modeling, loading calculations and summaries of piping systems
Perform stress analysis of complex systems using stress analysis software and with conclusive results regarding suitability of the design
Develop data for spring hanger design and engineered supports

 International project or area management experience in diverse cultural environments is highly valued.


Salary Range


118,500 to 213,500


Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
