Position: Sr. Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Our Denver office is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer or Designer that has worked on Pipeline Projects (metering stations, pump stations, compressor stations) to support our Oil and Gas clients. This position will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
•Lead projects from start to finish; planning personal daily work and for other team members.
•Apply client and departmental design guidelines and/or drafting standards in daily work assignments with guidance from senior staff. Ensure that layer names, line types, text sizes, and drawing arrangements are in accordance with standards as set forth on the Project.
•Participate in or lead squad check drawing package reviews.
•Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
•Be able to read, interpret, and check vendor E&I drawings and vendor catalogs.
•Travel independently to and conduct site surveys to document electrical, instrumentation, and controls at existing client sites and facilities (10% of time).
•Capabilities and Credentials:
•8 to15 years of design experience.
•Preferred four-year engineering degree, or relevant work experience.
•Extensive working knowledge and understanding of the latest version of the National Electrical Code, especially hazardous location wiring practices.
•Working knowledge of industry standards: ISA and relevant UL, API, NFPA, IEEE
•Complete knowledge of selecting components for the design of SCADA and PLC/DCS control systems, including panel layout, architecture, configuration, sizing, and communication links (Allen-Bradley, DeltaV, Siemens, GE, Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet)
•Proficient in performing applicable calculations and specifying instrumentation (flow, pressure, and temperature), transmitters, actuators, motor-operated valves, and control valves.
•Knowledgeable in interfacing with 480 V and below power electrical equipment (MCC and motor controls, transformers, ASDs) and calculations: Conduit fill, Single phase voltage drop, Single phase transformer sizing, Feeder/Conductor sizing, Panelboard and breaker sizing.
•Proficient in MS Word and Excel in creating documents from scratch.
•Proficient in wiring diagrams, electrical interconnects, panel layouts, junction box design, PLC cabinet design, plot plans, loop diagrams, I/O lists, P&IDs, cable/conduit schedules, panelboard schedules, and electrical and instrument installation details.
•Proficiency in AutoCAD (text changes, move elements)
•Excellent interpersonal relationship skills: Work with clients one-on-one (minimal supervision) on scope development and technical details. Good verbal and written communication skills in English
•Excellent mentoring skills to help train less experienced designers and engineers.
•Additional Plus Experience:
•Proficient in AutoCAD at creating drawings from scratch and MS Access.
•Experiences requiring leadership and self-initiated activities.
•Experience with three-phase power calculations and equipment sizing, and grounding.
•Experience with satellite and cell communications.
