Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Hoisting Instructor opportunity in Carlsbad, NM to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs, covering safe work practices for hoisting, rigging and crane operations.
- Ensure training incorporates applicable regulations, such as OSHA standards, and emphasizes hazard recognition.
- Conduct student assessments to ensure competency in various rigging and hoisting procedures and equipment usage.
- Teach the use, inspection, and maintenance of rigging equipment, including cranes, hoists, slings and hardware.
- Serve as a technical expert, participating in training program design, development and providing input on best practices.
- Minimum of 5 years’ related experience.
- Experience in teaching and training in general industry or construction applicable hoisting equipment operation.
- Effective communication, teaching, and facilitation skills.
