We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team for utility and infrastructure construction projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with excavation, grading, and conduit installation, as well as operating a variety of equipment safely and efficiently.
This role involves building electrical infrastructure to spec, including turnkey conduit installations, transformer framing, and primary cable work. Candidates with utility experience will be highly preferred.
- Operate heavy machinery such as Takeuchi and Bobcat excavators, skid steers, digger derrick line trucks, and duct dawgs
- Perform conduit installations including single phase 120/240 pads, 3-phase switch gear pits, and pull boxes
- Frame single-phase underground transformers, install URD primary cable, and terminate 15kV elbows (preferred skill)
- Read and understand prints, site plans, and cut grades to spec
- Load and unload materials (rock, debris, soil, etc.)
- Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition
- Perform basic maintenance and report major issues to supervisors
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized job site
- Communicate with crew members to ensure efficient and accurate project execution
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid heavy equipment operator’s license or certifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience operating excavation/construction equipment (utility experience preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and prints
- Familiarity with safety codes and OSHA requirements
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work extended hours outdoors in varying weather conditions
