We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Material Handler Operator with extensive experience operating heavy equipment equipped with grapples and magnets. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of proven expertise in handling, sorting, and moving scrap metal and other materials in a fast-paced recycling environment.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and precise material handling operations, contributing directly to productivity, safety, and quality standards.
- Safely operate Sennebogen 825 and 835 material handlers using grapples and magnets.
- Load, unload, stockpile, and move scrap metal and other recyclable materials.
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe and properly maintained.
- Assist with sorting and organizing materials for processing, storage, and shipment.
- Follow company and industry safety protocols at all times, including proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with yard supervisors, scale operators, and other team members to coordinate efficient workflow.
- Detect and report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and adhere to operational guidelines.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience operating Sennebogen material handlers (825/835 models preferred) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated proficiency with both grapple and magnet attachments.
- Certification and/or training in heavy equipment operation (OSHA, NCCCO, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of scrap metal handling, recycling yard operations, and safety practices.
- Ability to perform equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

- Experience working in metal recycling facilities.
- Knowledge of ISRI scrap specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
