Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanics, particularly with heavy machinery and equipment. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will also engage in customer service interactions, providing expert advice and support to clients regarding their equipment needs.

Duties

•

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on heavy equipment including John Deere 5100E tractors, John Deere 6105E tractors, John Deere FC15R mowers/batwings, Diamond DBM 22 ft mowers.

•

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics systems, and other critical components.

•

Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.

•

Fabricate parts as necessary to ensure equipment functionality.

•

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on equipment.

•

Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide solutions related to equipment performance.

•

Ensure compliance with safety regulations while working in the shop or field environment.

•

Assist in training junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.

Requirements

•

Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on heavy equipment repair.

•

Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

•

Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance principles, particularly for diesel engines.

•

Familiarity with hydraulic systems and their repair processes.

•

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.

•

Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

•

A valid driver’s license is required; additional certifications related to heavy machinery operation are a plus.

•

Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual labor for extended periods.
