IronCreek Energy Services is currently seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/ based out of our Grande Prairie location and able to travel to clients at various locations across Western Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Reporting to the Vice President Operations or their delegate, the person in the Heavy Duty Mechanic role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment, including Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Hitachi excavators, for IronCreek Energy Services Inc. This is a hands-on and detail-oriented position that requires adaptability to both shop and field environments, including rig-site work.

The applicant must have strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Hitachi excavators.

- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues and complete effective repairs.

- Operate service truck and provide on-site support at rig and field locations.

- Maintain accurate service and repair records.

- Ensure all work meets company safety, quality, and operational standards.

- Respond to on-call requests, including after-hours and weekends.

- Participate in scheduled out-of-town work assignments and overnight stays when required.

- Work collaboratively with other team members and provide technical support as needed.

Special Conditions of Employment

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).

- Reliable transportation.

- Must be able to travel and work overnight out of town as required.

- Ability to work in outdoor and rig-site environments in varying weather conditions.

- Physically capable of performing heavy lifting 50+ lbs, climbing, and other physically demanding tasks.

- Compliance with all company and client safety standards is mandatory.

- Successful completion of pre-access / pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as required

- Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Must wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

- Successful pre-access / pre-employment Drug and alcohol test is required

- Regular travel to client sites required, including overnight stays as needed.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical).

- Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving in field and shop environments.

- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

- Commitment to safety and ability to follow all HSE standards and policies.

- Ability to follow directions, adapt to changing priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.

- Basic Microsoft Office computers skills could be an asset.

Education, Training, and Experience

- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) / Heavy Duty Mechanic certification preferred.

- Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Hitachi excavators strongly considered an asset.

- Minimum 3–5 years of related experience in equipment maintenance and repair (equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered).

- Forklift or equipment operation experience (certification preferred).

- Previous experience in oil & gas industry preferred

- Maintain all Safety Tickets as required including:

- H2S Alive (Required)

- WHIMIS (Required, provided by IC)

- TDG (Required provided by IC)

- First Aid Level C CPR/AED (Required)

- Common Safety Orientation (CSO)

- Bear Awareness
