We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Safety Intern to join our team for a valuable hands-on learning experience in the field of workplace safety. As a Safety Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our safety professionals, gaining practical knowledge and skills in safety protocols, procedures, and regulations. This internship is designed for college-level students pursuing degrees in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or related fields.
Responsibilities:
•Assist in conducting safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
•Participate in incident investigations, including gathering information, conducting interviews, and analyzing data to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
•Collaborate with the safety team to develop and deliver safety training programs and materials for employees, focusing on topics such as hazard recognition, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response.
•Support the implementation of safety policies and procedures throughout the organization, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
•Assist in maintaining safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspection findings, training records, and safety meeting minutes.
•Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to workplace safety, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
•Engage with employees at all levels to promote safety initiatives, address concerns, and encourage participation in safety-related activities and programs.
•Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by the safety supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
•Currently enrolled in a college or university program, pursuing a degree in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
•Strong interest in pursuing a career in safety or a related field, with a desire to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
•Knowledge of basic safety principles and practices, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
•Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn and adapt to new software platforms.
•Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn from others.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing to a team environment.
This is a paid internship opportunity with flexible scheduling options available to accommodate academic commitments. The Safety Intern will report to the Safety Supervisor or Director and will receive guidance and mentorship throughout the internship duration.
