We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Operations Technology & Grid Modernization Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Operations Technology & Innovation, this role is pivotal in managing and evolving our core operations technology (OT) systems, including ADMS, GIS, SCADA, and Mobile Workforce platforms, while driving forward our grid modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, project coordination expertise, and a passion for innovation in the utility sector.
Duties And Responsibilities
OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION MANAGEMENT•Configure and maintain core OT applications including ADMS, GIS, SCADA, Mobile Workforce and other custom developed solutions.
•Design secure, scalable system integrations between operations technology (OT) systems and enterprise technologies and oversee the implementation of these systems.
•Establish and maintain performance monitoring frameworks for all OT systems to ensure high availability, responsiveness, and data accuracy. Analyze system logs, metrics, and alerts to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks or failures.
•Maintain and prioritize a backlog of system issues, enhancements, and feature requests using agile methodologies. Coordinate with development and support teams to ensure timely resolution and delivery.
•Identify and implement process improvements to enhance system performance, data quality, and operational efficiency.
•Develop and maintain operations technology (OT) roadmap aligned with strategic business goals.
GRID MODERNIZATION & INNOVATION
•Collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendors to identify and assess opportunities for innovation, including researching and securing external funding sources for projects.
•Actively participates in grid research initiatives and government funded programs.
•Support technical evaluation, analysis, and leading the design, deployment and verification of innovative solutions used to better operate Elexicon’s grid and prepare the distribution system for future needs.
•Develop and write technical specifications for implementing grid modernization projects, such as preparing Requests for Proposal, government funded applications and submitting research proposals in conjunction with universities and colleges.
PROJECT COORDINATION
•Create and maintain project charters, scope documents, project schedules, business/system requirements to support the implementation of new technologies as well as system upgrades.
•Oversee the planning and execution of system integrations testing. Develop and enforce testing protocols and quality assurance standards for new system deployments and upgrades. Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to validate system behavior, data flow, and performance.
•Oversee project financial management, including the development of capital budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
VENDOR & STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
•Manage relationships with technology vendors, ensure service levels, contract compliance, and timely issue resolution.
•Serve as a liaison between technical teams and internal stakeholders including operations, engineering, and IT.
•Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings to gather requirements, provide updates, and align priorities.
Key Skills & Qualifications
•3+ years proven experience configuring and maintaining OT applications such as Hitachi ADMS, ESRI ArcGIS, SCADA, and Mobile Workforce platforms in a utility or critical infrastructure environment.
•5+ years experienced in various database related technologies such as Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SSRS, MySQL, XQuery Packages/Procedures/Triggers/Queries.
•5+ years hands-on experience with system integration architecture technologies such as ESBs, SOAP APIs, RESTful APIs, data formats (e.g., XML, JSON), message brokers (e.g., WebSphere, RabbitMQ), and middleware platforms (e.g., Web Methods, BizTalk).
•Strong understanding of SCADA communication protocols such as DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-6 etc.
•Familiarity with IT Infrastructure and networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching, virtual machines, application patching, operating system patching, etc.
•Strong understanding of PMP concepts and Agile framework.
•Ability to travel to domestic and international customer sites.
•Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Demonstrated ability to have worked on complex problems requiring cross-functional team coordination
Minimum Requirements
•Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
