Mountaineer Gas Company is the largest natural gas distribution company in West Virginia with over 220,000 customers and 450 employees. We service fifty (50) of the fifty-five (55) counties in West Virginia and maintain close to 6,000 miles of pipeline.

Job Summary

Mountaineer Gas Company is currently recruiting a GIS Technician to join our Corporate Engineering Team. One of the Engineering Department’s duties is to manage and maintain the company’s GIS system, which is the main system of record for nearly all asset and compliance data. This position’s focus will be to support the department’s GIS tracking and traceability initiative in its Southeast Operations Area.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Train and support Operations field staff on GPS data collection.

- Review GPS data collection for accuracy and completeness.

- Work with field managers to ensure work orders are being submitted in a timely fashion.

- Move GPS data into the production database, connect to existing facilities, and retire appropriate facilities.

- Support Operations field staff with any ESRI related issues.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography or other GIS-related degree; three (3) of experience working with GIS data, preferably using ESRI software; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferences:

- Experience with the following: ESRI desktop products (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, etc.)

- Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

- Basic SQL Knowledge

- Programming Language Exposure (Python, Arcade, etc.)
