GIS SPECIALIST

Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $65,166.40 – $91,187.20

Location: Greenwood, SC; remote work is not available for this position.

Hours: 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday – Thursday; 7:30am – 11:30am Friday

Responsibilities/Duties: Under limited supervision, develops and maintains the GIS computer mapping system; completes application design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, documenting and all other related tasks for Greenwood CPW utilities (water, electric and gas). Performs Global Positioning System field operations. Works with each department in maintaining a system of mapping new utilities as they are installed to ensure the maintenance of updated and accurate GIS information. Coordinates and provides GIS application technical support for the engineering and other departments. Establishes systems standards, policies, and procedures. Coordinates GIS activities with outside agencies. Develops custom and standard maps, spatial analyses, web-based applications, and other GIS products. Reports to the Director of Engineering

Required Skills and Qualifications: Requires an Associate’s degree in engineering graphics, GIS technology, civil engineering technology, computer science, information technology or related field supplemented by three to five years of responsible technical experience in GIS system administration, civil engineering or engineering graphics, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required. Prefer a bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, Earth Science, Engineering, or other field related to the work. GISP certification, or the ability to work towards GISP certification, is preferred.

Must have strong experience with ArcGIS Desktop Suite (including Pro), field applications such as Survey123 and Field Maps, and ArcGIS Online (AGOL). Experience with ArcCatalog and Python Scripting is preferred. Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word, and other Microsoft 365 suite of applications. .
