Position Overview:
We are seeking a Geotechnical/Environmental Driller with a valid Class 3 license to join our team in Spruce Grove, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with drilling, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety and efficiency on the job site.
Key Responsibilities:
•Operate and maintain a range of drilling equipment, including auger rigs, for geotechnical and environmental investigations.
•Mobilize and demobilize drilling rigs and supporting equipment efficiently and safely.
•Perform various drilling techniques, including auger drilling (hollow and solid stem), to collect soil and water samples.
•Conduct in-situ tests and install monitoring wells, vibrating wires, slope inclinometer casings, and other instrumentation.
•Lead and supervise a drilling crew, ensuring all work is performed safely and to project specifications.
•Maintain accurate and detailed daily drilling records, including footage, consumables, and site conditions.
•Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on drilling and ancillary equipment (trucks, pumps, generators, etc.).
•Adhere strictly to all company and client safety protocols and procedures, including ground disturbance requirements.
•Collaborate effectively with engineers and project managers to meet project objectives.
•Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both on-site and with equipment.
Requirements:
•Proven experience as a Geotechnical/Environmental Driller, with a minimum of 2 years in geotechnical and/or environmental drilling operations.
•Valid Class 3 license with a clean driving record
•Strong knowledge of various geotechnical drilling techniques (e.g., SPT sampling, hollow-stem, solid-stem, direct push).
•Ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of drilling rigs and support equipment.
•Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
•Commitment to safety and environmental protection
•Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
•Strong communication and teamwork skills
•Certification in First Aid and H2S considered an asset
